Photos: Veterans Day 2013

Russ Martin holds a portrait of his uncle he was named after as he and his daughter Sophie pose next to a new Springfield Veterans Memorial unveiled this morning.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Veterans Day Memorial Service was held at 11 a.m. today at Memorial Park on River Street.

Former Springfield Fire Chief Ernest Lamphere was the guest speaker. The unveiling of the new memorial followed his remarks.

Relatives of those named on the memorial all pulled together on a line removing the covering.

    A fine day of honoring the men who gave all. Springfield has a lot to be proud of. Thank you VFW Post 771, and Ronny Walker! Thank you Boy Scout Troop 252 and Cub Scout Pack 258!
