North School Preservation Society
ANNUAL MEETING
DECEMBER 3, 2013
The North School Preservation Society held its third annual meeting since taking over ownership of the 5.5 acre North School property in Novemeber 2011. Officers and Trustees were elected to 2 year terms. Virginia Ricker is the new President, William C. Hannah is the new Vice-President. James Soucy was re-elected Treasurer and Edwin Fransen will continue on as Secretary. The three elected Trustees are all new to the position -- Allen "Chip" Woods, Margery Burbank and Andrea Cook. Other business of the evening included selecting committee members and a discussion of plans and goals for the coming year.
You can't help but read this stuff and feel glad and sad at the same time. Glad that people seem to be finding what they believe to be a worthy community cause to work toward. Sad that they are so determined to cling to the past that they are blind to the possibilities of the future.
ReplyDeleteIf there goal was to turn the old North School into the Old North School Thrift Store, then I would judge them to be a tremendous success. The building appears to have become an oversized storage unit for cast off belongings.
