I do not understand these numbers.
ReplyDeleteAre they times 10 ?
Only 4 heroin arrests ? Thought there were more than that.
Total of 266 ? Less than 1 per day .
These numbers make no sense.
This looks more like the totals for the start of the 2014 year! not all of 2013..there is no way this is all there is. I read in the police log more than this..someone trying to make our town look better? lol
ReplyDeleteWe all know that our community is not this soft. Re-count SPD......re-count.
ReplyDeleteI think what you will find is that those arrests are ONLY what SPD did. NOT included are the arrests that other agencies made such as State Police, Drug Task force etc etc.
ReplyDeleteThat's it? Ridiculous. The only ones in double digits are ones that offend the official establishment: lying to implicate another, violating conditions of release and DLS. It boggles my mind that with all the drugs and crime this is it. I'm sure the police will say it's because they need more cops.
ReplyDeleteOnly 266 arrests in a town of 4,000-plus? Pretty peaceful place, I'd say. And look at the categories where the most arrests were made-- gives quite a different picture from what Alan Smithee always claims.
ReplyDeleteAfter seeing the news of a father shooting his son and then hanging himself in Essex, VT, and the homicides in other "affluent" towns/cities in VT, I started thinking about how Springfield is relatively safe and low in crime in that respect. That's a good thing.
DeleteHow many of these arrests were prison inmates?
DeleteActually the state has made changes to the database information is stored in thus causing a significant impact on the ability to run statistical information. Still trying to find where the discrepancy is. Another report shows a total of 374 arrests but none of the report functions are pulling the missing information. Still working on it.
ReplyDeletethanks, Wendy! 374 arrests-- any duplicates?-- would indicate an arrest rate of 9% or thereabouts. How might that compare with other towns of the same socioeconomic profile?
ReplyDeleteLook how many people violated the conditions of their release... Scary... Love being a prison town. :(
ReplyDeleteBeing a prison town has nothing to do at all with conditions of release violations...conditions of release are set by a court to keep people out of jail.
ReplyDeleteI love the officers at the police dept ...I have problems with dispatchers not all of them just wendy taft. most of the officers are very courteous but then u got officers who just like to threatned people that didnt do anything wrong. main st in springfield is full of dealers and the town needs more money so they let the dealers deal make it out to be a problem when they could solve the problem by walking around the town bring bike cops in and undercover everyone watches dealers deal but somehow the police don't. seems weird and the amount of welfare in springfield is ridiculous most welfare money goes on drugs not all but most and I dont wanna hear anyone defend it cause they r on welfare its a true statement not made up
