Best in the Nation

Elliot Thompson and Rebekah Ferreira, both from Springfield, Vermont, took top honors in the field of high school TV production at the Skills USA National Conference in Kansas City, Missouri. They won $15,000 worth of gear as well as scholarships.

The SkillsUSA Championships were held on Wednesday June 25 and Thursday, June 26 in H. Roe Bartle Hall and Municipal Auditorium of the Kansas City Convention Center. More than 6,000 outstanding career and technical education students - all state contest winners - competed hands-on in 99 different trade, technical and leadership fields.

Elliot and Rebekeh are students in the Audio Video Production Program at the River Valley Technical Center in Springfield. The AVP Program is open to all 10-12th grade students as well as Adult Education students both in-house and online.

  6. Obviously these two are gang members in the same gang. Note the obvious display of gang colors by wearing the same hat.

  7. I had no idea there was a regional, employment demand for TV producers. Oh well, at least it keeps teachers employed and makes school fun.
