Springfield police investigate teen's death Posted: Jul 30, 2015 4:26 PM EDT Updated: Jul 30, 2015 5:16 PM EDT By WCAX NewsCONNECT WCAX.COM Local Vermont News, Weather and Sports- Casey Wing Casey Wing Wesley Wing Wesley Wing SPRINGFIELD, Vt. - Police in Springfield are investigating the death of a teenage girl who was the daughter of a recent murder victim in town. Casey Ann Wing died last Saturday in what authorities describe as an 85-foot fall from the North Springfield Dam. The case is still under investigation, but police do not suspect foul play. Casey Wing was the daughter of Wesley Wing, who was shot to death on a Springfield Street in April. Police say Wesley Wing was shot when he confronted alleged drug users and told them to get out of his neighborhood. Gregory Allen Smith is charged with Wesley Wing's murder. Dozens of people turned out for a vigil in April in memory of Wesley Wing. Now, the community is mourning the loss of his daughter. School officials plan to open Springfield High School from 5-7 p.m. Friday for students who want to share their grief. Counselors will also be on hand.
