SPRINGFIELD, Vt. - Do you remember how magical Christmas can feel as a child? Springfield on the Move (SOM) and the Springfield Regional Chamber of Commerce teamed up again this year to make this year’s tree lighting and arrival of Santa spectacular and extra special for our “littlest community members”.
Springfield’s children picked up their holiday sticker map of Downtown and traveled to each location listed on the map to receive a holiday sticker and goodie. The SOM office was decorated as Santa’s workshop where elves gave out a Christmas gift for participating in the holiday map tour.
At 5:30 p.m. the Springfield Community Band played and caroled. Caroling sheets were available for all to join in and sing.
And right on time at 6 p.m. Santa magically arrived to light the gorgeous Christmas tree at the head of the square in downtown Springfield! His house is nestled in the Peoples Bank parking lot where he greeted all the towns’ children and gave them each a present from his sac of holiday goodies.
Springfield on the Move added festive wreaths to all downtown storefronts and worked with downtown landlords, businesses and town organizations to coordinate holiday decoration of the downtown storefront windows to create the kind of memories that Springfield children will talk about for years, and want to replicate for their children!
