DCF bomb threats causes state office evacuations Department for Children and Families offices in White River Junction, Springfield targets UPDATED 5:12 PM EST Dec 04, 2015 Text Size:AAA WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. —Police in White River Junction and Springfield are investigating a bomb threat. . Officials said the threat was made Friday morning against the Vermont Department for Children and Families in White River Junction. The agency is located in Family Court in the Windsor District Courthouse. Vermont State Police’s Royalton-based bomb squad responded to the scene. The Springfield police chief said the state office building was evacuated. Chief Douglas Johnson said about 40 people in the state office building were evacuated. That included DCF workers, DVM employees, state environmental workers and other offices. Johnson said a threatening phone call was made to the Windsor District Courthouse. Investigators said no explosives were ever found in the courthouse. The evacuation was done as a precaution. Workers and visitors were allowed to reenter the state office building Friday afternoon. Court administrators decided to close the Windsor District Courthouse for the rest of the day.
