Suzy's Little Peanuts visit new playground

In November, Suzy’s Little Peanuts preschool class took a field trip to the new Riverside playground. The Springfield Public Works Dept. did all of the work to remove and dispose of the old playground, and prep the site for the new one.

The new playground came from Pettinelli and Associates out of Burlington. They sent 5 workers down to Springfield to work with the Parks and Rec own group of volunteers to install the new playground on Oct. 16 and 17.

Community volunteers were: Craig and Aaron Streeter, Kevin Spaulding, Luke Mitchell, John McCarthy, Paul Bladyka, Dana Chase, Matt Aiello, Jason Pierce, Christian Craig, Keith Graham, Rick Johnson, Ethan McNaughton, Ed McQuaide, Keith Stern, Tim Merrow, Dave Hinckley, Matt Jeffers, Deb Ankuda, and Carol Lighthall. Another volunteer, Matt Priestley came in with his equipment and spent a couple hours installing the certified playground chips under the new playground.

Black River Meats, Shaw's, Kirsten Aiello, Leader Distribution, and McDonald's made donations to feed the volunteers as they assembled the new playground on Oct. 17.

Suzy’s Little Peanuts preschool class had a great time playing in the newly renovated and safe playground provided by the community.
