Enlarge Map The Vermont playwright’s presentation incorporates her personal essays along with anecdotes and photographs to weave a story that is both funny and poignant. Vasta Folley shares insights with heart and humor, while speaking to the resilient buoyancy of the human spirit. From painting a picture of small town Vermont to how she carved a career in the arts here in our rural, but vibrant state, the playwright highlights the comedy and drama found in everyday life and posits that perhaps the seeds of who we become were planted right from the beginning. Vasta Folley, who is also a director and presentation coach, has extensive stage experience in a variety of diverse roles in both musicals and plays. As a director, highlights include large scale musical productions featuring casts of over 50 as well as regional premieres of new work. After success writing and performing her own work, Vasta Folley made the transition to playwriting in 2008 with the Stowe premiere of the hilarious and heartfelt Pronouncing Glenn. The Burlington Free Press selected her play, The Family of Ewe, as one of the “Five Plays to Remember from 2013.” She received the 2015 Vermont Playwright Award for her newest play, The Sleepover, A Comedy of Marriage and was the recipient of the Flynn Center for the Performing Art's Vermont Artists' Space Grant for the development of her drama, The Seymour Sisters, which will tour Vermont theaters later this year. This tour is supported by a grant recently awarded to Vasta Folley from the Vermont Arts Endowment Fund of the Vermont Community Foundation in 2015, the same year her comedy Alumni Pie filled houses for a two week run in Burlington.
