Published March 4, 2016 in the Rutland Herald Morris elected as chairman of Select Board SPRINGFIELD — Select Board member Kristi Morris was re-elected chairman of the Springfield Select Board Thursday during a special reorganizational meeting. Morris, who was the only one nominated for the top job, has been chairman for the past six years. He was re-elected last year to his third term. He is the engineering manager at Lovejoy Tool Co. in Springfield. Elected as vice chairman was Select Board member Stephanie Gibson Thompson, who was re-elected Tuesday to her third term. Morris said he was excited to help guide the town in the coming year, and said that the positive votes from townspeople during Town Meeting were a good sign to the select board on a variety of issues, including the budget, the board’s effort to tackle blight in town, as well as the effort to improve infrastructure in town. Townspeople, in addition to approving the $11 million town budget, okayed another $400,000 for road paving. http://www.vermonttoday.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/RH/20160304/NEWS02/160309731 http://www.rutlandherald.com/article/20160304/THISJUSTIN/303049996 http://www.rutlandherald.com/article/20160304/NEWS02/160309731
The chair position should change at least every six years. No doubt that Kristi has done a good job but someone else should step-up to the plate for a while.
