SPRINGFIELD — Anna Dieffenbach continued to find success with her deadly corner kicks against the Cosmos.
Dieffenbach got the Wasps off to a good start by scoring an unassisted tally in the opening half with a corner kick, a feat she also accomplished on Tuesday during a 3-1 win over Brattleboro.
Frehsman Audrey Eggum then scored her first career varsity goal with Rosalie Geiger dishing off the helper.
Mykahla Jasinski made 15 saves for Springfield, while Britney Poljacik had 13 stops for the 5-4 Wasps.
Woodstock coach Greg LaBella also gave praise to Annabelle Lessard, McKenzie Dalton, Hannah Milstone and Emma Maiden, along with Dieffenbach, Eggum and Poljacik.
Woodstock will meet Springfield again on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Springfield, Vt. — It appears Anna Dieffenbach has gotten this restart thing down pat.
Dieffenbach, a senior, knocked in a corner kick Thursday for the winning goal in the Woodstock Union High girls soccer team’s 2-0 victory at Springfield. It was Dieffenbach’s fifth goal in three games and her fourth off a restart in that span.
Woodstock (5-4) is above .500 for the first time since an opening-day triumph at Oxbow. Wasps freshman Audrey Eggum added her first varsity goal, assisted by Rosalie Geiger, to close the scoring and stretch her team’s winning streak to three.
Brittney Poljacik made 13 saves for Woodstock, which forced Springfield’s Mykahla Jasinski to stop 15 shots. Wasps coach Greg LaBella also recognized Annabelle Lessard, McKenzie Dalton, Hannah Milstone and Emma Maiden for strong efforts.
The teams meet again Tuesday in Woodstock.
