2016-10-01 / Community Springfield Senior Center news By Heather Hall, Executive Director This upcoming Tuesday, Oct. 4, will be one of our days for the VNA foot clinic. Appointments are necessary and cost $20 per appointment. If you’re interested in scheduling an appointment today, please call the center as the appointments book very fast. On Wednesday, Oct. 5, we will be having a game day starting at 1 p.m. Some of the popular games that are played on this day include hand & foot or Chicken Foot Dominoes but all games are welcomed to be played. If you have an idea of a game that you would like to play on this day, feel free to talk to someone on the Activities Committee about it or just bring it with you on game day. On Thursday, Oct. 6, the bus for the trip to Ogunquit, Maine, to see the Million Dollar Quartet will be leaving from the Springfield Senior Center at promptly 7:30 a.m. If you are scheduled to attend the trip, please make sure you are signed in to the Springfield Senior Center no later than 7:15 a.m. You can either park in the parking lot to the side of the senior center or across the road in the church parking lot. The trip is sure to have lots of laughs and be a great time. Please note that Heather, Springfield Senior Center director, will be the escort for this trip so she will be out of the office for the day. With that being said, all regularly scheduled events and activities at the Senior Center will still be taking place. Also on Thursday, Oct. 6, the Springfield Knit Wits will be meeting at 1 p.m. for the bi-weekly meeting. They are still looking for more yarn to be donated, if you have any you would like to get rid of, please stop by the senior center or give us a call with questions. The Knit Wits also welcome all new people to join the group if you’re interested. Looking ahead — On Saturday, Nov. 19, we will be hosting our Annual Christmas Bazaar and Cookie Walk at the senior center. The event will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. At this point in time, we are looking for people to donate cookies and empty, PLASTIC coffee cans to put the cookies in. If you would like to donate cookies for the event, please stop in and sign-up at the senior center. All of the PLASTIC coffee cans can be dropped off at the senior center whenever the time is good for you. The senior center will also be looking for donations of food and other baked goods to be sold at the event at the Luncheon and Food Table — there will also be sign-up sheets for those items as well at the senior center. If you are interested in having a booth at the Christmas Bazaar, please speak with Heather at the center to see about obtaining table space. All homemade crafts can be sold at the bazaar, this will not be an event with yard sale items for sale. If you have any questions on the information presented above, please reach out to Heather Hall, executive director, at (802) 885-3933 or email her at heatherhallssc@gmail.com.
