ARLINGTON — The Otter Valley boys soccer team earned its second win over Springfield in four days on Tuesday afternoon.
Their latest win, a 2-0 final, propelled the Otters into Friday night’s championship game of the John Werner Tournament, hosted by Arlington.
Max Williams got the Otters on the board during the 23rd minute with the assist going to Sawyer Heath.
Otter Valley padded the lead just nine minutes into the second stanza when Josh Letourneau found the back of the net on an unassisted tally.
“We did have a good amount of chances tonight,” Otter Valley coach Richard Williams said. “Our combination play was nice and we did a good job of working the ball around.”
The Otters did concede a few chances for Springfield in the second half, but the Cosmos, who dropped a 1-0 contest to the Otters on Saturday, were never able to capitalize.
“We allowed some opportunities for them where they got behind us in the second half,” Williams. “Those are just the kind of things that you don’t want to give them when you are winning.
“I was afraid we might be flat or complacent after Saturday, but the boys had a lot of energy.
Williams was quick to compliment Springfield’s keeper for keeping the contest close.
The Otters will play the winner of Tuesday’s nightcap between Twin Valley and Arlington at 7 p.m. on Friday.
Otter Valley improves to 3-4-1.
