Reaching new heights
On Oct. 1, Richard A. Moore of Springfield turned 94 years young. It was difficult for his family to find birthday presents would be meaningful and memorable. Well, this year they did. On Saturday, Oct. 8, Dick's family gave him a lift off that he will long be talking about. Dick, along with his son Ray Moore, enjoyed a sightseeing tour of the area flying from Hartness Airport with pilot David Dezendorf. Dezendorf took Moore on a flight over his childhood neighborhoods in Westminster West, Saxtons River and Bellows Falls. The flight would not have been complete though without a fly over of the family farm, Moorelands, in Springfield. Moore has spent many hours haying in his fields and watching all the planes from Hartness Airport fly over the farm he owns with Helen.
