Springfield Elks present dictionaries to students
SPRINGFIELD — Annually, the Springfield Elks Lodge #1560 donates dictionaries to all third graders at Union Street School in Springfield. This year, they gave out 89 dictionaries to the students to keep for their own use, at school or at home. The Elks' lodges across the country have been doing this for several years. For the past 10 years, Springfield Elks Lodge has given out more than 1,200 dictionaries to third grade students in the Springfield school system. The graduates of the Class of 2015 were the first recipients of the Springfield Elks' annual donation of dictionaries.
In the photo, Exalted Ruler Vicki Siliski is shown in back, enjoying the students' excitement at receiving the dictionaries.

Yay for the Elks! This is a wonderful service!!
ReplyDeleteEnglish dictionaries are not much use to children that can only speak spanish, russian, chinese, urdu or arabic. 65 million "Mericans" now live in homes that don't speak english.
ReplyDeletePlease refrain, troll. This story is 100% positive.
DeleteThird grade students want iPads not dictionaries. Another useless self-serving promotion that pretends to be helping kids for an organization that is really a social club masquerading as a somewhat misguided charitable organization. Party on Elkers!
DeleteJudging from your lack of punctuation, you could benefit from a dictionary yourself.
