Springfield, BF joining forces to raise funds for baseball programs
SPRINGFIELD — Bellows Falls and Springfield may be rivals on the diamond, but will be joining forces for a good cause.
The U.S. Baseball Academy's Spring Training 2017 will come to Springfield High School for a four-week baseball camp that will teach the finer points of the game. Cosmos head coach Rich Saypack and Terriers head coach Bob Lockerby will run the camp to raise funds for their respective baseball programs.
The camp will be held on four consecutive Saturdays — Feb. 11, 18, 25 and March 4 — and is open to youths in grades 1 through 12.
Areas of instruction include advanced hitting, pitching, fielding, base running and catching. Sessions are 90 minutes in length and will be instructed by some of the area's best coaches. With a low player-to-coach ratio, each player will receive individual attention in a small-group atmosphere. This allows participants to receive a preseason tune-up that will help them enter team practice in mid-season form. With numerous age-specific sessions, instruction will be specially tailored for each ability level.
The camp is also affordable with registration fees as low as $99. Advance registration is required and can be completed online at www.USBaseballAcademy.com. If you do not have Internet access you can call the academy office at 866-622-4487.
Sign up now. The registration deadline is Friday, Jan. 13. You can register now and pay later.
