HCRS names three new members to board of directors

SPRINGFIELD — Health Care and Rehabilitation Services (HCRS), Vermont’s second largest community mental-health agency, has announced that it has elected Matthew C. Garcia, Adam S. Pippin and Judy Siler to its board of directors. Originally from North Carolina, Matthew Garcia came to New England to attend Dartmouth College. He worked in publishing for 15 years before attending Vermont Law School, passing the bar and setting up a private practice in White River Junction in 2008. In addition to his law practice, Garcia is committed to numerous humanitarian efforts. He was a board member for the Good Neighbor Health Clinics in White River Junction for almost 10 years. He is currently the vice chair of the board of trustees and volunteer for the Valley Court Diversion Program. He has been a Guardian ad Litem in the Vermont Family Courts, is a member of the Judiciary’s GAL Oversight Committee, and recently founded a statewide Vermont nonprofit group, the Friends of Vermont GAL Inc. He is also a founding volunteer attorney for the Windsor-Orange Legal Assistance Project and is a volunteer at Headrest in Lebanon. Adam Pippin has a bachelor's degree in business administration from Lyndon State College. After eight years of extensive experience in the financial industry, Pippin is currently employed as a commercial loan officer at Wells River Savings Bank. He is an active member with the Vermont Bankers Association’s Commercial Lender’s Committee and a member of the Risk Management Association’s Young Professionals Committee. Judy Siler has a bachelor’s degree from Lebanon Valley College and a master’s degree in Marine Biology from the University of Delaware. She moved from the Philadelphia area to Vermont in the late 1990s. Siler, along with her husband, are trained support group facilitators for the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI) Support Group in Brattleboro. Siler has been a NAMI Board Member for the past two years and serves on many sub-committees. She is a certified NAMI Family-to-Family facilitator trainer. Through her work with children and adults with mental illness challenges, she brings a unique perspective to the board. Siler is also a trained WRAP facilitator and advocate. “We are delighted to welcome Judy, Matthew, and Adam to our board of directors,” said George Karabakakis, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer, HCRS. “Given their expertise in the nonprofit, legal and financial industries, we’re looking forward to the knowledge and value they will bring to our board.”
