Family Center in need of donations

The year will soon be drawing to a close and the Springfield Family Center is in need of donations of non-perishable food items and also monetary donations to help those in need in the community have a great holiday meal. The non-perishables include canned vegetables, fruit, gravy, and soups.

Robert Crego named executive director of Southern Vermont AHEC

The Board of Directors of the Springfield-based Southern Vermont Area Health Education Center announced that Robert Crego was named Southern Vermont AHEC’s executive director, succeeding Marty Hammond upon her retirement at the end of October 2018.

Springfield Area Parent Child Center welcomes new executive director


Springfield Area Parent Child Center started their executive director search back in February of this year. The search committee consisted of several members from the SAPCC Board of Directors, a community member, and a consultant from another one of Vermont’s parent child centers. The expectations were set high, and after two searches, Margot Holmes was offered and accepted the position.

Warming shelter getting ready for winter

The Springfield Warming Shelter is fast approaching our sixth season of operation. In that brief time period, the shelter has served 166 individuals who were in need of a warm place to sleep during the cold winter months in southern Vermont.

HCRS hosts cookie-themed 5K run/walk


Health Care and Rehabilitation Services (HCRS), southeastern Vermont’s community mental-health agency, hosted its 2nd Annual 5K Run and Walk on Saturday, Sept. 8. This family-friendly event had a cookie theme, complete with home-baked cookies for all participants and photo ops with the Cookie Monster.

Quilters support Springfield Area Parent Child Center


This group of eight to 15 ladies meets twice a month for a day of social time, snacks, and sewing! To date, this group has donated over 200 blankets to the SAPCC Welcome Baby Bag program.

Legislature recognizes HCRS’ 50th anniversary


HCRS was recognized by the Vermont House of Representatives for our 50th anniversary celebrated in 2017. In a concurrent resolution signed by the Senate and House of Representatives on May 3, HCRS was recognized for many highlights of their history.
