2017-09-06 / Local CMVA donates to Honor Flight New England On Saturday, Aug. 26, the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association Chapter 26-3 held the “Put Some Pork on Your Fork,” dinner and fundraising event held at the American Legion Post 67 in Chester, Vermont. Ronald Walker, a member of the CVMA 26-3, passed away in October of 2016. In November of 2016, after Walker's passing, Lt. Mark Fountain of the Springfield Police Department agreed to take over Honor Flight New England’s fundraising activities in the region. Lt. Fountain approached the CVMA Chapter 26-3 and asked them about doing a ride to remember Walker with all monies raised benefiting Honor Flight New England. On the evening of this event, CVMA 26-3 Commander Dennis Thomson and CVMA VT State Representative presented Lt. Fountain with a check for $8,000, made possible through CMVA’s National Charitable Donation Committee, payable to Honor Flight New England. Also present was Liz Walker, Ron’s widow. Lt. Fountain said, “I am forever grateful and greatly humbled to the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association and CVMA Chapter 26-3 for their very generous donation to Honor Flight New England, which was near and dear to my friend Ron.” The donation will be used by Honor Flight New England to send World War II and Korean War veterans to Washington, D.C., for the day so they can visit their war memorial, at no expense to the veteran.
Very commendable!
