Abigail Williams, and brand new Cadet, Charlie Mayco. — COURTESY PHOTO PERKINSVILLE — Members of the Catamount Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol hiked up Hawks Mountain in Perkinsville on Saturday, Sept. 23, to the site of the June 15, 1947 B29 Superfortress crash. Once there, a short ceremony of remembrance was held and the names of each crew member read, along with a moment of respectful silence for each. The Civil Air Patrol is the auxiliary of the United States Air Force Cadet membership is open to youth at age 12, and senior members are always welcome. Meetings are held most Sundays starting at 3:30 p.m. at Squadron Headquarters adjacent to the airport in North Springfield.
