If you are looking for a good workout and also want to support Springfield Athletics, check out the Edgar May Health and Recreation Center’s Spin-A-Thon on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Riverside Middle School gymnasium.
Riders of all ages and all levels of experience are welcome to register for any or all of the five hour-long rides. Spinning bikes may be reserved by individuals or teams of riders that want to cycle together.
Five different EdgarMay Spinning instructors will lead rides on the Spinning bikes at Riverside Middle School. Spinning is a great workout sure to challenge experienced riders, but also easily adapted to accommodate new riders. Participants are recommended to seek sponsorships from friends and family either on a per mile basis or at a flat rate. Riders will typically complete 13-15 miles in 60-minutes. In addition to participating in the rides, community members can also show their support by sponsoring another rider, making a monetary donation, donating in-kind prizes or volunteering to work the event. Dollars raised will benefit the Springfield Booster Club’s Riverside Gymnasium Project.
A minimum donation of $25 reserves a bike for an hour. Riders are encouraged to raise more money to be eligible for great prizes and drawings. Participants should bring a hand towel and water bottle. Advance registration is recommended due to the limited number of bikes available for each session. Anyone interested in registering, sponsoring, making a donation or volunteering can call the Edgar May Health and Recreation Center at 802-885-2568.
