SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – The Town of Springfield issued a proclamation on Sept. 11 in appreciation and recognition of the work the Garden Club does throughout the community, for the many years of service, and for the club’s “ability to work and co-ordinate flawlessly with so many groups and individuals involved in their projects.” Select Board Chair Kristi C. Ann Miller and Deanna Dexter prepared and submitted the awards applications from Springfield. Following the program and luncheon, Carolyn Lane, Garden Club president, accepted eight awards for work in the following areas: civic beautification, Junior Conservation Award for Union Street Pollinator Garden, program yearbook, Meals on Wheels Floral Arrangements, best ongoing project for Festival of Trees, public education through club programs, and two Golden Trowel awards. The Golden Trowel awards went to Barbara Riotte and Kathleen Marshall for their outstanding work within the club.
