Harvest Arts Festival and Benefit Dinner is Nov. 9 | October 30, 2017 SPRINGFIELD, Vt. — The Springfield High School Arts Department and the Culinary Arts Program of the River Valley Technical Center invite everyone in the community to share in the second annual Harvest Arts Festival & Benefit Dinner held Thursday, Nov. 9, at Springfield High School. The event includes a hearty meal of soup and bread from 5 to 7 p.m, accompanied from 5:30 to 6 p.m. by musical performances, with student artwork on display. The cost is $7 for the meal or $15 for a meal and ceramic bowl; concert admission is free. Other student-made arts and crafts, including hand-crafted pottery and ornaments will also be for sale. Springfield High School students in visual arts and arts integration sessions donate the crafts and artwork they create, and most ingredients for the dinner are gifted by area businesses and individuals. River Valley Technical Center Chef Dave Groenewold donates his time making those ingredients into a meal, as do students he supervises. One-hundred percent of the proceeds from this event are split evenly between the Backpack Food Pantry (an Springfield High School program providing students in need with food for the weekend) and the Springfield Family Center. Again this year, the event will take place with Springfield High School parent-teacher conferences. “It’s going to be a wonderful, busy night,” said Springfield High School Principal Bindy Hathorn. “Not to be missed.”
