By combining balance exercises and weight training, this program is proven to combat the effects of osteoporosis, according to a press release from GM-RSVP. Classes are free, and meet two or three times per week. Trained facilitators lead the group through the stretching and weight-lifting routine, modeling proper timing and technique. Instructors are needed in Springfield, Norwich and the western part of the county. Classes are also active in Andover, Ascutney, Brownsville, Cavendish, Hartland, White River, Windsor and Woodstock. No experience is necessary, and instructors are trained and certified by highly qualified program leaders. A full schedule of Bone Builder classes in Windsor County is available at rsvpvt.org. Green Mountain RSVP is a program of Southwestern Vermont Council on Aging. Windsor County RSVP is active in schools, hospitals, food shelves, meals on wheels and other nonprofit organizations. Anyone interested in sharing their time and talent with the community is asked to call (802) 674-4575.
