Over 200 people came out to support the Springfield Schools PTA raising over $7,500 at the annual Comedy Night Fundraiser held on Sept. 30 at the Springfield High School.

SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – Over 200 people came out to support the Springfield Schools PTA raising over $7,500 at the annual Comedy Night Fundraiser held on Sept. 30 at the Springfield High School. The comedians, Kelly MacFarland, Drew Dunn and Paul Landwehr, entertained and at times jostled with the crowd prompting laughter and a bit of shenanigans. “Over 200 people came out for comedy and to support our schools,” says lead organizer Meredith Kelley. “We are so grateful to everyone who came out, to our sponsors and donors. This is our second year running this event and we are thrilled to have raised additional funds to support our elementary schools.” The PTA comedy committee also organized a silent auction with several local businesses donating items gathered into various themed baskets. Proceeds from the event support Springfield’s elementary schools to supplement purchase of classroom supplies, pay for school activities, and other special events. Last year’s event paid for new swings at Elm Hill Elementary and will fund future gardens in front of the Union Street School replacing an old dilapidated building that was demolished earlier this summer. Event sponsors were Kelley Sales and Service and Gurney Brothers Construction both of Springfield, Vt. This year’s event was in partnership with the Springfield Booster Club.
