Film: 'Girl Rising – One Girl with Courage is a Revolution'

The story of nine girls from nine different countries striving beyond poverty and challenging life circumstances to educate themselves. Free showing of the film April 6 at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Springfield.

FIRST FRIDAY FILM — The Springfield UU's First Friday Film for April 6 is "Girl Rising - One Girl with Courage is a Revolution." (Film rescheduled from March.) Released in 2014 on DVD, this film is the story of nine girls from nine different countries striving beyond poverty and challenging life circumstances to educate themselves. In the process they transform themselves, their families, their communities and the world. Educate Girls and change the world! Meryl Streep, one of the narrators of the film, says of it: "this film delivers hope: reasonable, measureable, tangible hope that the world can be healed and helped to a better future."

This is a free showing, held at 21 Fairground Rd in Springfield,VT. We will start the film at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:45 p.m., popcorn and beverages included.
