Help send RVTC TV production students off to nationals
Recently, Kyle and Tanner brought home a Gold Medal for TV Production at the Vermont Leadership and Skills Conference hosted by SkillsUSA in Burlington, VT. As such, they have qualified to represent Vermont at the National Leadership and Skills Conference this June in Louisville, KY.

I wasn't aware there was a demand for TV production staff. Has any SHS student ever secured gainful employment in the broadcast field? Or, is this just another job program for unemployable teachers? Criminal to encourage these young people to squander their precious few years in school not focusing on academics and viable trades.

DeleteSpringfield is developing a national reputation in the video arts. Most of these students go onto college in the field with majorly marketable skills. What is criminal is that we haven't made more of a push to market this type of industry given we have as fast internet in Springfield as the other industry centers for this type of thing.

DeleteThank you to everyone who has supported my students in their efforts to represent Vermont at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Louisville, KY!!! This is our 5th year representing Vermont in this contest - 5 Years ago, we won the Gold for the entire Nation! Last year, we were 4th place! I have a good feeling about this year's team. We also have a safety video in the top three for the entire Nation right now and I'd like to thank our community for supporting these students with their online votes. With the scholarships and prestige this National Organization brings, we've had several students gain acceptance into prestigious film schools around the nation with hefty scholarships. We have alumni students working as Technicians on Broadway, others working in regional Broadcast stations, cable tv stations, and many who have started their own production companies. Right now, three of our alumni are traveling the world working on independent film crews. Thanks again for your support! It's nice to see some positive press coming out of our small town!
