Missing man arrested for burglary, larceny By KATY SAVAGE ksavage@eagletimes.com 50 min ago Brandon Adams-Smith COURTESY CHESTER, Vt. — A missing man was found and then arrested in Springfield on Sunday. Brandon Adams-Smith, 20, who was reported missing by his brother on May 19, was arrested Sunday evening and lodged at the Springfield jail for burglary and larceny charges stemming from an April 12 incident in Chester. Chester Police Chief Rick Cloud said Adams-Smith broke into Mountain Man Marketplace and stole jewelry. Adams-Smith damaged the front door to get in, costing an estimated $500 to fix. Foul play was not suspected at the time Adams-Smith was reported missing. Chester police issued a press release when he was believed to have been seen walking in the Springfield area in early June. On July 4, police received a call around 2:30 a.m. saying Adams-Smith overdosed and was lying in a field in Springfield. Multiple agencies responded, Springfield Police, Chester Police and Vermont State Police. Springfield Police Chief Doug Johnston said they looked for Adams-Smith in several locations in Springfield but were unable to find him. On Saturday, July 7, Adams-Smith called police to say he was all right. “His message was that he was fine, but he was no longer in New England,” Cloud said. Johnston further said Adams-Smith told police he was in Texas and wasn’t coming back to New England. The next day, Adams-Smith was spotted and arrested at a residence on Clinton Street in Springfield. Cloud said police had been to the Clinton Street residence multiple times looking for Adams-Smith since he was reported missing, but residents there were “uncooperative,” Cloud said. Cloud said Adams-Smith has had multiple run-ins with police agencies and is well known to police. This past January, Adams-Smith was caught hiding heroin in a car in Hatfield, Massachusetts. Adams-Smith was pulled over with three other people on Interstate 91 in Massachusetts Jan. 29, the Republican reported. Adam Currier, 24, of Cavendish, Rachel Sanderson, 19, of Springfield and Robert Worrall, 24, of Springfield were caught with about 136 wax paper packets of heroin hidden in the vehicle, the Republican reported. The Republican said Adams-Smith told police Currier was a heroin dealer and he had purchased heroin from him “about a dozen times” last year. Currier denied those charges in March, the Republican reported. “He’s had quite a history,” Cloud said of Adams-Smith.
Missing? That's a good one! Yeah, they were looking for him, alright!
