Roundup: Cosmos roll past MSJ Tom Haley | September 14, 2018 STAFF REPORTS SPRINGFIELD — Noah Zierfus intercepted three passes and took two back for touchdowns as Springfield ran roughshod over Mount St. Joseph 34-14 Friday night at Brown Memorial Field. It was Springfield’s first win while the Mounties fell to 1-2. The Mounties drew first blood when Maddox Traynor connected with Leo Carranza with a 37-yard touchdown pass. Traynor legged in the two-point conversion to make it 8-0 MSJ. It was all Cosmos after that. Springfield came back to make it 8-8. Bryson Jester scored on a run from 50 yards out. Two more scores followed before the half and the Cosmos took a 20-8 lead into halftime. The Cosmos scored on a pass from freshman quarterback Sam Presch to Jester for 33 yards. The final score came on the pass interception. MSJ’s Keegan Chadburn fell on a fumble in the end zone after a bad snap in punt formation. The Cosmos now travel to Bellows Falls for a 7 p.m. kickoff on Saturday.
