Local Habitat for Humanity chapter gets house #10

The Greater Springfield Vermont Area Habitat for Humanity, your local Habitat chapter, has acquired a rehabilitation property to work on and offer for sale to an eligible partner family. Now looking for volunteer workers.

It is a 2-bedroom ranch with kitchen, living room, one bath, attached heated breezeway, and 2-car garage with a finished unheated room overhead. There is an in-ground pool off the breeze way. The property is 1.6 acres off a paved town road at 422 Lacross Road. The property is on the school bus route.

There is a drilled well and septic system, plus spring rights to fill the pool. A hot air furnace is in the cellar, and there is a full-sized attic for storage and an enclosed unheated front porch.

We are starting with the rehabilitation so we are looking for volunteer workers for demolition work as well as insulation and sheetrock installation inside. Outside we need volunteers for brush and tree removal, plus soil trucking and leveling to smooth out some of the deep wheel ruts in the field.

Those interested in becoming more involved with the affiliate, or interested in applying for a Habitat housing application, should contact Walter Pluss at 802-343-5833 or email wpluss@vermontel.net to volunteer to work or donate materials or funds for the project. If Walter can’t be reached, try Dave Yesman at 802-885-5318 or c21dyesman@vermontel.net

Although this project is in its infancy, you are welcome to stop by and take a look. This is the affiliate’s 10th house to date.
