Threat is defused in Springfield

Springfield schools were closed on Thursday, Nov. 15 because on Nov. 14 at 3;38 p.m. the Springfield Police Department received a phone call from the Springfield School District to inform the police about a student making an active threat.

On November 14th at approximately 3:38 P.M. the Springfield Police Department received a phone call from the Springfield School District of a student making an active threat. Springfield Police Department responded to the Springfield High School. The student was identified who was making the threat and contact was made with the student and his family.

The student was cooperative throughout the investigation which is ongoing at this time. There is no threat to other students and staff or the public.

There will be school on Friday unless the weather dictates otherwise.
