Springfield needed a victory and Woodstock loss to get the eighth seed, but it didn't happen in a night that was a times chaotic. There were 43 fouls called. Four players fouled out, three from Springfield and in the second half Windsor was in the double bonus at the 1:23 mark of the third period. There was also a time during that third period that Springfield coach Pete Peck had to turn around and hold up his arms trying to get the large crowd from Springfield to settle down. It was the last regular-season game for both teams. Springfield entered the game in ninth place and finished at 10-10. Windsor, at 8-12, will go into the playoffs most likely in 11th spot and have to play on the road as well. "I don't see a team in this division that's going to run away with this thing," Windsor coach Harry Ladue said. "I think we've all got a chance." Springfield had to play without guard Derek Graham who is lost for whatever is left of the season when he broke his collarbone and suffered a concussion snowboarding. Graham's absence and the third-quarter foul trouble of two Springfield players who had three fouls and two more with four personals taxed the Springfield bench. "We just don't go that deep," Peck said. "Without Derek it changes things." Springfield trailed by double digits most of the night, but there was a time in the third quarter when it looked like the Cosmos might make a big comeback. Down 43-32 and several reserves in the game, Springfield went on an 8-2 spurt to make it 45-40 and before Windsor closed out the period with a Jacob Page basket for a 47-40 advantage. Windsor got the spread up to 52-44 in the first 90 seconds of the fourth quarter, but Springfield again made a run to close to 52-49. However, Gavin Callahan, the only senior on the Windsor team, found a seam and drive the lane for a basket and Tanner Dana converted from underneath and the lead got back to 56-49 with 3:25 to play. Then as the clock ticked down the Cosmos started fouling out and they began taking a lot of errant 3-points shots and Windsor held on. "We took care of the ball and got some transition baskets that really helped us near the end" Ladue said. Callahan had a steady night with 20 points and a solid floor game.oints and a solid floor game. Page added 14 to the Windsor total.
