The 31st annual "Beyond the Unicorn" Christmas craft fair was held Saturday, December 4th at Riverside school. More than 85 crafters participated.
Autumn weather, with its bright blue skies and brisk winds, brings on a flurry of activity in preparation of the coming winter months.
Although the Springfield High School Alumni Association has its most traditional celebration under the warm summer sun, the arrival of cool temperatures triggers excitement for another wonderful tradition --- the Unicorn Craft Fair.
Always set for the first Saturday of December, the Unicorn has earned its fame as one of the top-notch craft fairs in New England. Marie Gelineau reports that there are many new crafters hoping for a spot at the Fair this year. The Riverside gymnasium and cafeteria will abound with a wonderful mix of artisans. Great care is taken to make sure that the most varied offerings are displayed. Over eighty-five crafters will fill the area with a temptingassortment of treasures, just perfect for gift-giving or for yourself!
There will also be temptations for the tummy as Gail Higgins once again puts together a selection of flavors to warm your soul. Whether it be the homemade chili, the best-ever chocolate chip cookies, or any of the items in between, your tummy will also be glad you attended the Unicorn. Enjoying a snack or lunch in the cafeteria, actually visiting with friends and neighbors, is part of the whole experience.
The event takes place this year on December 4th, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
