6 Alarm Fire in Downtown Brattleboro

Sunday night, fire companies from Springfield, Bellows Falls, Southwestern New Hampshire, and Northwestern Massachusetts joined forces with the Brattleboro Fire Department to battle a blaze at the historic Brooks House building.

The fire started around 9:00 p.m.  It wasn't until about 2:00 a.m. that firefighters were able to get the fire somewhat under control and downgraded to a 5 alarm fire. But the fire was still active at 4:00 a.m.

The building housed about 80 people. It is believed everyone inside made it out safely and no reports of any significant injuries to the firefighters.
