SPRINGFIELD, VT - The “Memory Lane” exhibit at the Apple Blossom Cotillion every year offers event goers a look at past Cotillions. The exhibit includes the 34 formal portraits of Apple Blossom queens since 1977 and 5 private portraits donated by queens from 1957 to 1976. A total of 39 of the 54 recipients of this coveted title are featured. A sampling of past gowns and all 54 past Cotillion programs will also be on display.
This year, history is also reflected in the theme of the overall Cotillion ~ Days Gone By. The production will feature favorite songs from past Cotillions, including a swing dance and a waltz. Also, as a special feature the Town of Springfield’s 250th anniversary committee will present a sneak preview of its celebrations coming this summer.
The crowning of this year’s Apple Blossom Queen on Saturday, May 7 will end this year’s production and set the stage for next year. For an advance look at prospective queens, a poster of the contestants and escorts is on display in the window of Heads Up hair salon on Main Street in downtown Springfield. The photos will also appear in local newspapers.
Tickets for the Friday, May 6 performance, the full show without judging, cost $10. Tickets for Saturday, May 7, including crowning of the queen and the Town of Springfield presentation, cost $15. All tickets may be purchased in advance at Tina’s Hallmark, the Corner Gift Shop in the hospital lobby, and at Cotillion rehearsals.
