BF’s Marchica one-hits Cosmos in 15-0 runaway

In Springfield, Bellows Falls continued its strong baseball season by hiking its record to 9-3 Friday, rolling past Springfield 15-0.
Matt Marchica went the distance for the shutout. He struck out eight, walked five and gave up only one hit.
Marchica was flirting with a no-hitter, creating the only drama.
He took his no-hit bid into the sixth when Taylor Fontaine broke it up with a two-out double.
The Terriers sprayed 18 hits around the park, with six hitters in their lineup collecting two or more. Leading the barrage was Marchica with four base hits, including two triples. Brendan Hackett rapped out three hits and also had a double.
Bellows Falls will try for its 10th win on Tuesday at Fair Haven.
Springfield falls to 2-8.
