At last night's School Board Meeting, Puggy Lamphere was elected chair of the Park Street School Building Committee with Bob Flint appointed as vice-chair. Larry Kraft was chosen to be secretary.
School Board chair Scott Adnams said no school board members would serve on the committee so all opinions and ideas can be independent from the board.

At the bequest of the Springfield School Board, Board, 13 community members last night organized into a committee to explore the district’s best course of action regarding the Park Street Elementary School building. After Springfield residents voted to cease operating the elementary school in the building — with those grades moving to other schools after the 2010 school year — the district has been deciding what to do with the space. The school district’s administrative offices The school district’s administrative offices currently reside in the building, along with the Gateway Alternative Program and a few other organizations. The School Board unanimously decided to have the topic revisited and appointed 13 members to the committee to explore if the building is worth keeping or renovating, or whether to develop other ideas for the benefit of the community.

Why form a committee? Close the friggin place down! We voted to have it shut down and sold, however they put new carpets in, heat the place and have a full time janitor on board all times.
