Police Log

Recent activity of the Springfield Police Department.


David Hunter, age 28, of Cavendish was arrested Friday night March 2nd after officers responded to a residence for the report of an active dispute with a male subject trying to enter a residence. Upon arrival the accused had left the scene. Investigation revealed a domestic assault had occurred at the residence at which time one male adult and one 13 month-old juvenile were assaulted [no serious injuries were sustained by either victim]. The accused was later located and subsequently lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility on $2500 bail to await arraignment of charges for Domestic Assault & Reckless Endangerment.

In the early evening of March 1st, a missing juvenile was located safe and secure.

Weather conditions Thursday night March 1st found the evening concluding with 5 motor vehicle accidents, of which none resulted in any serious injuries. The last accident which occurred at approximately 9:15 pm resulted in a pickup truck exiting the roadway approximately 30 feet on Grove Street, traversing a driveway where is struck a propane tank dislodging it from it's base. Springfield Fire responded, quickly identified the leaking tank and were able to shut it off before any additional hazards occurred. Springfield Police and Fire were tied up on scene for almost 2 hours and Springfield Highway was instrumental in providing sanding services to gain access to the scene.

On February 28th, Michael Barnard, 25, of Springfield was arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle while his license was Criminally Suspended. Barnard was Cited to appear in court at a later date.

Jesse Marro, 31, of Springfield turned herself in on an active Probation Warrant and was lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility. The warrant indicated she would have 29 days to serve.

On February 28th, Officers were requested to respond to Union Street School for an out of control female 5th grader. The juvenile was transported home and released to their parent.

February 27th, Officers responded to Elm Hill School for a report of a 5-year old child that had run from the school. The child when located, refused to return to the school and took off running into the woods where the responding officer quickly caught up to her and returned her to the school to await the arrival of a parent to take custody of her.

Amanda Bartholomew, age 25, of Springfield has been charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident; False Information to a Police Officer; and Careless and Neglegent Operation after an investigation determined she was travelling too fast for snow-covered road conditions and exited the roadway striking a rock wall on private property causing damage. Bartholomew then left the scene without notifying the property owner of the damage. She has been cited to appear in Windsor Superior Court Criminal Division at a later date.

On February 23, 2012 at approximately 2217 hours the Springfield Police Department responded to Vermont Route 106 in front of the Irving gas station for a report of a two car motor vehicle accident. Operator one, Ling Wang from Springfield, Vermont was extricated by the Springfield Fire Department and transported to Springfield Hospital, due to her injuries Ling was airlifted to DHMC for treatment Ling was operating a blue Dodge Caliper and it is believed that she was traveling South on Vermont Route 106. Operator two, Nicki Farren from Springfield, Vermont was pronounced dead at the scene due to her injuries by the Springfield Fire Department. Nicki was operating a Tan Nissan Altima and it is believed that she was traveling north on Vermont Route 106. The accident is under investigation at this time by the Springfield Police Department and the Vermont State Police Accident Reconstruction Division. Any witnesses to the accident are asked to call Sergeant William Daniels of the Springfield Police Department at 802-885-2112.
