Kischko named to Castleton field hockey coaching post

Published February 19, 2014 in the Rutland Herald Kischko named to Castletonfield hockey coaching post STAFF REPORT CASTLETON - Castleton’s Associate Dean for Athletics & Recreation Deanna Tyson is pleased to announce that Jessica Kischko has been named the new field hockey coach at Castleton. “I feel fortunate that we were able to hire Jessica and look forward to her becoming a part of the Castleton community,” said Tyson. “Jessica has played and coached field hockey at the Division III level, and as a native Vermonter I think she will be an ideal fit in our athletic program.” Kischko comes to Castleton after spending the past two seasons as an assistant at Wittenberg University. Over her two years with the Tigers, she helped the team to 14 wins and this past year two players earned NFHCA All-Region honors while five were named all-conference. “I’d like to thank Deanna Tyson, Tim Barrett and the search committee for this opportunity to join the Castleton community,” said Kischko. “I’m excited to hit the ground running in a few weeks and build upon the strong foundation that has already been established here.” Prior to Wittenberg, Kischko spent the 2010 season as an assistant coach at Oswego State and then the 2011 campaign at Ithaca College. Kischko played four seasons at Elmira, appearing in 45 games over four seasons. Primarily a defender, she finished her career with three goals and one assist. She earned the team’s sportsmanship award in 2009 and was named to the NFHCA All-Academic Team in both 2008 and 2009. Kischko, a native of Springfield, Vt., graduated from Elmira in 2010 with a degree in psychology while minoring in sociology.
