Cosmos win in 13 innings
SOFTBALL
Springfield 3, Milton 1
(13 Innings)
MILTON — Sara Locke pitched all 13 innings for the Cosmos and still had enough left at the end to strike out Milton’s No. 2 and 3 hitters.
Locke also led off the scoring by stealing home on a delayed steal in the fourth inning. It looked like that might be enough until Hannah Johnson slapped a solid base hit with two outs in the seventh to knock in the tying run for the Yellow Jackets.
In the 13th Corrina Michols led off with a bunt single and promptly stole second. Brooke Wiley sacrificed her to third bringing up Chelsea McAllister who also bunted. Milton played it safe and held the ball, keeping Nichols at third but allowing McAllister to reach. McAllister stole second bringing up Meghan Courchesne who hit a sacrifice fly to break the tie. KK Haskel then singled to bring in the insurance run. Springfield at 10-7 faces No. 1 Lyndon on Friday. Milton ends its year at 8-9
