Police investigate triple shooting in Springfield Mike Donoghue, Free Press Staff Writer 7:24 p.m. EDT June 11, 2014 BUR-COUNTY-WINDSOR.jpg (Photo: Free Press) One suspect is in custody, and three people were being treated for gunshot wounds following an incident at a residence at 47 Summer St. in Springfield shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday, police said. The name of the suspect in custody was not immediately released. Two people had what appeared to be minor injuries and were transported to Springfield Hospital. A third person was taken with more serious wounds to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., the authorities said. The extent of injuries were unknown at 7 p.m., said the state police, which had been asked by Springfield authorities to take the lead in the investigation about two hours after the shooting. The people involved all appeared to all know one other, police said. Law enforcement officials said they were looking to locate other persons of interest; police did not specify how many. Chester and Bellows Falls police also sent officers to the scene to help Springfield and the state police. Longtime Springfield Police Chief Douglas Johnston did not respond to phone messages Wednesday afternoon. Contact Mike Donoghue at 660-1845 or mdonoghue@freepressmedia.com.
