Two Arrested in Springfield Shooting Incident Lesley Engle Joe Gullo 06/12/2014 09:24 AM06/12/2014 06:17 PM (FOX44 & ABC22 News) SPRINGFIELD, Vt. - Vermont State Police continue to investigate the shooting incident that happened in Springfield Wednesday afternoon. The incident happened at around 3:30 p.m. at a residence on Summer Street. A press release says police arrested Leon Jiggetts, 26, of Newark, N.J., and Jabbar Chandler, 33, of Charlestown, N.H. late Wednesday night. Witnesses and a third suspect, a 16-year-old male, have also been questioned. Police say 19-year-old Joseph Atkinson, sustained a gunshot wound to the torso. He is currently receiving medical treatment at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. Timothy Carleton, 30, and Amanda Booker, 24, were both treated and released from Springfield Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Police say Atkinson was the only person shot during the incident. Jiggetts is charged with 2nd degree attempted murder and burglary. He is lodged at the Southern Correctional Facility for lack of $250,000 bail. Police say he is facing additional charges of sale of heroin from another investigation. Chandler turned himself in to police in Charlestown, NH Wednesday night. He was lodged as a fugitive in N.H. and is facing aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and burglary charges in the shooting incident. The investigation is ongoing.
