Raiders run past Cosmos
GIRLS SOCCER
U-32 5, Springfield 0
SPRINGFIELD — The Raiders blasted out to a 3-0 lead in the first 20 minutes and coasted past the Cosmos.
Aine Kennedy had two goals and Maya Mashkuri, Liz Aitchinson and Cilla Wanver one apiece as the Raiders improved to 3-1.
“They’re a smart team and a good passing team,” Springfield coach Jade Costello said.
Jayden Hudson had six saves for U-32 while freshman Grace Morvan had 14 for Springfield. Morvan had a strong game but was victimized by the lack of defensive communication while the Raiders were building their big early lead.
Springfield, 0-5, got solid games from center back Katie Stokarsky, center middie Corrina Nichols and striker Chelsea McAllister.
“I was proud of the way my seniors played tonight,” Costello said.
Springfield will host Hartford on Friday night.
