Veterans lead Twin Valley past Cosmos

ARLINGTON — Twin Valley’s veteran presence led the Wildcats to the dominant victory over a young group of Cosmos in the opening game of the John Werner Tournament.
Tobi Will, Justin Hicks and Morrow Bernard each netted two goals for the 6-0 Wildcats. Chad Bernard, Brett Swanson and Javier Mateos also tallied scores. Will and Hicks were also credited with two assists each, while Swanson, Mateo and Nick Nilsen also dished off key assists.
Twin Valley keeper Sam Molner did not record a save during his time in net, while Kyle Murdoch made three in the final 20 minutes.
Springfield keeper John Hildreth recorded 17 saves during an impressive performance.
“He made a lot of quality saves out there. We just had a lot of beautiful shots on him,” Twin Valley coach Buddy Hayford said. “They saw our best effort tonight.
Twin Valley will take on the winner of game two on Friday at 6 p.m.
