He will speak about his stories of “Vermont: Bizarre and Baffling” at the next OLLI program in Springfield on Oct. 28 — just in time for Halloween. SPRINGFIELD — Joseph A. Citro, author, public radio commentator and Expert in Vermont Weirdness, will present the next Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) program, “Vermont: Bizarre and Baffling” at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, at the Nolin Murray Center next to St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Pleasant Street in Springfield. Come celebrate the Halloween spirit of the season and hear local tales from a local boy, who grew up in Chester. Enjoy the odd, the outrĂ©, the supernatural and the sublime. Experience Citro’s storytelling of dark and occasionally disturbing landscape more traditionally portrayed with sunny skies above quaint pristine villages. His most recent book is "Joe Citro’s Vermont Odditorium," and his novel "Shadow Child," has recently been optioned as a motion picture. Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, affiliated with the University of Vermont, is a local membership program geared towards seniors 50 years and older who want to engage in meaningful learning, “just for the fun of it!” Membership is $45 for the semester, which includes 9 programs. Non-members are encouraged and welcome to attend individual lectures for a single program fee of $8. The complete Springfield and state-wide program list is available on the internet at www.learn.uvm.edu/osher
