SPRINGFIELD — A grand opening this week at the River Valley Technical Center's Campus Connection marks the 18th anniversary of the the school store. Located in the atrium area of the tech center, the store is run exclusively by students. There are two co-managers, Kyle White and Christian Chiesa, both seniors from Springfield High School, looking to go into business for themselves some day. The two applied for the position while they were level one business students last spring. "We had to apply for the job with a resume and essay about why we wanted to work as store managers," said Chiesa. The co-managers made sure the store ran smoothly this week. "We are busy making sure our buyers are keeping the store stocked and our promotional managers are doing their job of getting the word out about their products," said White. "The grand opening went well, everyone seemed to appreciate some of the new products we offer." Students from many tech center programs came to the grand opening to purchase food, drinks and other items. The Horticulture and Natural Resources program provided fresh pressed apple cider for sale in the store. Other new products this year include ice cream and country meats. The store is open from 8:15 to 9:20 a.m. Tuesday and Friday mornings and from noon to 1:20 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons.
