After relocating cemetery, VTel CEO gets permit for Hartland plot

The Vermont Telephone Co. CEO who moved an ancient cemetery in Hartland to clear the way for a new home has received a wastewater permit for the site, but not necessarily the blessings of the many in town who have opposed his plans.

  1. RE: "There’s a possibility, Guite said, that he may eventually decide not to put a house there after all."

What a tease! How soon before he blasts off on Virgin Galactic's Space Ship Three?

  2. I say good for him. I am happy he did it and I am happy the court found in his favor. For way too long Vermonters have been used to making their own laws contrary to the laws of the state and country.

  3. If you have enough money and pay off enough people you can do anything you want and get away with it. So what if he desecrates the graves of our ancestors, his ego says he can build his house anywhere he wants and you can't stop him.

  6. I hear Michel Guite has changed his mind about building the house in Hartland. Seems he now wants to build a larger house with room for fifty residents instead of eleven. Must have a big family. Rumor has it that he has purchased a large plot adjacent to the Oakland Cemetery near River Street (Route 106). I wonder if he is planning on doing the same thing there?

    1. He's out of the office on personal time, unlike the new town manager who just slouched his way through the swearing in ceremony.

  9. Michel Guite is nothing but a weasel, from the first day he came to Springfield, was stopped by the police for speeding, it was then realized there was an outstanding warrant, and he was brought to the phone Co in the back of the cruiser. He forced the IBEW to stop representing VTEL employees by simply throwing lawyers and stonewalling the union, which was the only protection the employees had, to the point they simply walked away and refused represent them any longer. Guite now hires contractors from out of town and mostly part time employees. The story in Hartland, although nasty, is only a small part of what the man has done. Suit and tie? the man should have on a long black coat with a white strip down it.
