Windsor 50, Springfield 29 — The Cosmos held Yellow Jackets standout Mike Bradley in check, but Russell Simonds picked up the slack with a game-high 20 points as Windsor earned the victory at Dressel Gym.
Windsor (11-2) led 12-3 after the first quarter and expanded the advantage to 27-14 at halftime.
The Cosmos (3-11) continued to battle, though, and trimmed the gap to 34-24 after three quarters.
“We were plagued by the first quarter again,” said Springfield coach Tim MacDonnell. “We’re not pleased with the loss, but it was definitely a better performance for us. We’re just trying to figure out ways to score the basketball.”
Bradley scored all eight of his points in the final quarter to help Windsor pull away.
“He got hot in the fourth quarter and made some buckets,” said MacDonnell.
Nick Kapuscinski was Windsor’s second-leading scorer with 12 points, while Josh Rivers paced Springfield with eight points.
Windsor will travel to Burr & Burton on Monday. Springfield will aim to snap its skid at Mill River on Tuesday.
