Well done, welders

Four Industrial Trades students at the River Valley Tech Center just became American Welding Society certified.

Congratulations to Brendan Kelly of Bellows Falls Union High School; Lucien Lamontagne of Fall Mountain Regional High School and Remington Wilson of Falls Mountain Regional High School, who all passed their AWS Certification in Welding 3G Structural Plate and Keegan Terry of Stevens High School, 1G Structural Plate.

The 3G certifications mean that they are certified to weld groove joints and fillet joints on structural plate carbon steel up to 3/4 of an inch thick in the flat, horizontal and vertical positions.

The 1G means the student is certified to weld fillet welds and groove welds in the flat position on Structural Plate Carbon Steel up to 3/4 of an inch thick.

RVTC’s Industrial Trades students have been training for this certification for the past few months.

  1. Good job guys. Vertical isn't very easy. Over head, never tried. Welders in the oil business, like pipes can pay big bucks. Go to Alaska and really get started on a bank account! Go to a shipyard like Maine....quite a few possibilities are out there. Good luck.

  3. These are the kinds of achievements that RVTC should be producing, but in numbers two, three, or four times greater! The opportunities that will open up for these young men will be significant, provided they have the motivation and self-discipline to pursue them.
