Keene woman arrested for hindering Springfield homicide investigation

A girlfriend of murder suspect Gregory Allen Smith hass been arrested in Keene and charged with 2 felonies.

HINDERING ARREST

The Springfield Police Department and Vermont State Police Major Crime Unit are asking for the public's assistance with locating / apprehension of Gregory Allen Smith, age 30 of Springfield, VT. Gregory Allen Smith is wanted for second degree murder, the result of the shooting death of Wesley Wing (age 37) of Springfield, VT. Investigation has revealed that Smith is intentionally avoiding police, having stolen the white 2004 Buick Rendezvous previously listed.


Kristin Walsh, of Keene, NH and identified as one of Smith's girlfriends, has been arrested and charged with 2 felonies, Hindering Apprehension and Witness Tampering. Walsh attempted to coerce other witnesses, trying to arrange a plan to get Smith out of state eluding police and then lying to police about her knowledge and whereabouts of Smith. Charges were brought by Keene NH Police Department as a result of their participation in this investigation and Walsh's involvement with Smith after the shooting death of Wesley Wing. Walsh is currently lodged. Please contact the Keene Police Department at 603-357-9815 for more information on Walsh's arrest and planned court appearance.

The public is reminded that assisting individuals who have committed felony crimes is prohibited by law.

Title 13 VSA 5. Accessory After The Fact: A person not standing in the relation of husband, wife, parent, grandparent, child, grandchild, brother, or sister, by consanguinity or affinity, to an offender, who, after the commission of a felony, harbors, conceals, maintains, or assists such offender with intent that he or she shall avoid or escape arrest or punishment therefor, shall be imprisoned not more than seven years or fined not more than $1,000.00, or both. (Amended 1971, No. 199 (Adj. Sess.), § 15; 1981, No. 223 (Adj. Sess.), § 23.)
